Kent Spitfires suffered a disappointing defeat against Hampshire in the NatWest T20 Blast group stage at The Spitfire Ground.

Sam Northeast hit his 17th T20 half-century and Sam Billings scored a brisk 40 off 25 balls as Spitfires posted 167-7 after the visitors won the toss.

Hampshire openers Calvin Dickinson and James Vince struck superb half-centuries as the visitors cruised home with 16 balls to spare.

Mitch Claydon (2), Darren Stevens and Imran Qayyum picked up wickets but the damage was done in Hampshire’s commanding powerplay which yielded 79 runs compared to 40 runs in the Spitfires’ first 6 overs.
