A bumper crowd of over 4,000 enjoyed Kent Cricket’s Blean Village Londis Fireworks Extravaganza on Tuesday at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence - the largest ever attendance for the Club’s annual fireworks event.
The event was hosting by KMFM Morning Crew’s Rob Wills, with music provided by local musicians The Hell Yeahs and George Ogilvie. A performance from the Spitfire Sweethearts, Kent Cricket’s cheerleading squad in the lead up to the impressive fireworks display was another highlight of the event, with a full funfair also in place for the evening.
The Fireworks Extravaganza is just one of a number of activities the Club has planned over the winter months at the Old Dover Road ground, others include a Cricket Dinner with former Kent Cricket captain, Matthew Fleming and a series of afternoon teas featuring guest speakers.
During Tuesday’s event one lucky winner also won four tickets to the New Year’s Eve Party at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence, including a Gala Menu and disco, worth £59.95 each.
Kent Cricket Chief Executive, Jamie Clifford commented on Tuesday’s event; “Our fireworks night continues to grow each year, demonstrating the versatility of our ground and the place it holds in the heart of the community.
“We are tremendously grateful to Blean Village Londis, Canterbury City Council and KMFM for their generous support of this event. We hope many who came last night will return to join us at the ground during the winter months for one or more of our other events and activities before the season begins again in April 2014.”
As well as sponsoring the event, Blean Village Londis staff also attended on Tuesday night, handing out free chocolate to guests, and they now have a further offer for firework attendees.
