A good day is had by all as Australia beat the Lions at Canterbury

FAST bowler Brett Lee looked back to his best as he helped Australia to a 103-run victory over England Lions at the St Lawrence Ground.

Lee, who has not featured since sustaining a side injury at the start of July, took 3-37 in the well attended two-day match at Canterbury.

Off-spinner Nathan Hauritz, who looks certain to return for the crucial fifth Test with England, also showed his abilities; returning figures of 2-43 in Australia’s comfortable win. Lions skipper Jamie Dalrymple was the pick of the Lions batsmen with a well crafted 58 but his dismissal, just before tea, gave the Aussies their needed momentum and they went on to register a morale boosting victory.

Australia captain Ricky Ponting (pictured) was most complimentary about his latest trip to Kent and his arrival was well received by the typically knowledgeable crowd who gave him the kind of reception that a player of his ability deserves.
