Academy defeat Essex and Surrey in T20s

Kent Cricket Academy won a T20 double against Essex and Surrey at Billericay on Friday.

Oliver Robinson and Tom Jones smashed 122 for the first wicket in just 11.1 overs.

Robinson hit six fours and five sixes as he blasted 67 from 35 balls with Folkestone all-rounder Jones scoring 55 off 40.

Sullivan struck twice in two successive overs to peg Kent back before Kai Appleby’s late cameo of 22 not out off 11 balls put Kent in control.

Ollie Hills and James Carslaw struck with the new ball before Jones capped a fine all-round display with 2/12.

Jan Gray and T Davies also took a wicket as Kent claimed a resounding 59-run win.

Scorecard

In the second match, The Mote seamer Hills struck twice in his first two overs before Surrey shared a 99-run stand before Marcus O’Riordan removed both batsman.

Carslaw claimed a late wicket to restrict Surrey to 151 before Kent’s top five all made contributions over 20 at more than a run a ball to reach the target with four overs to spare.
