Kent County Cricket Club has announced that Alex Blake has signed a three year deal that will see him at the Club until the end of the 2013 season.

Alex (22) has been involved with the Kent set up from a young age. He played in all the Kent Young Cricketers’ Age Group squads and then progressed to the Kent Cricket Academy.

He is the latest of “home-grown” talent to join the professional staff. Last season he played regularly – the highlight his maiden century against Yorkshire in September.

Commenting on the announcement, Paul Farbrace, Director of Cricket, said: “I am delighted that Alex has committed his future to the Club and now look forward to seeing him establish himself in the first team on a regular basis.”

Graham Johnson, Chairman of Cricket, added: “This is a further indication that the work of our coaches in developing young players is bringing results. I am sure all in the County look forward to Alex having a long and successful Kent career.”
