Batsmen and bowlers get good workout in Surrey friendly

SECOND XI FRIENDLY: Hampshire/Kent 384 & 443 lost toSurrey 511 & 317/7, Southampton

Six Kent cricketers enjoyed a good workout in a combined second XI with Hampshire versus Surrey at The Ageas Bowl.

Kent Cricket Academy graduate Adam Ball hit 59 off 107 balls including eight boundaries and triallist wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Rouse scored 74 off 97 balls including 12 fours as they posted 384.

In reply, Kent's 21-year-old paceman Matt Hunn took 4 for 117 in a 30-over spell, all-rounder Calum Haggett took 2-66 in 18 overs and spinner Imran Qayyum also picked up a wicket as a strong Surrey unit posted 511.

In the second innings, 22-year-old Ball backed up his first-innings 50 with 43 and hard-hitting Alex Blake scored 80 including nine fours and three sixes as the combined side reached 443.

Surrey required 317 to win and recovered from the loss of Dom Sibley to re-build through 50s from Arun Harinath, Vikram Solanki and Aneesh Kapil to reach the target with three wickets to spare.

Haggett, Ball and Qayyum took a wicket apiece and gloveman Rouse claimed two catches behind the stumps.
