Former Academy scholar Jan Gray took three wickets with his accurate leg-spin in each innings as the sides set up a chase of 324 that the visitors completed with three wickets to spare.

Gloucestershire won the toss and opted to bowl first with early rewards for the experienced new-ball duo of David Payne and Liam Norwell, returning from injury to remove both openers.

Norwell bowled Ben Manenti then Payne dismissed Harry Came in successive overs before Hussain and wicketkeeper-batsman Robinson added exactly 100 for the third wicket.

The Kent gloveman attacked the change bowlers, hitting ten fours and a six before Payne returned to remove him for 69.

With Hussain happy to play the anchor role, scholar Kashif Ali scored a fluent 38 before offering a return catch off Berkshire-born seamer Callum Gregory.

Fellow scholar Dilkes, a 17-year-old Broadstairs schoolboy who now plays for Canterbury, shared the biggest stand of the innings with six fours and a six on his home ground in a fine knock of 53 in a partnership of 125.

Hussain accelerated past 100 and 150 in the final session of the first day with 22 fours and two sixes in a superlative innings from the Yorkshireman.

He was eventually out on the second morning after sharing stands with Beckenham’s Will MacVicar (42) and Miles Richardson of Sevenoaks Vine (25) as Kent posted 441.

Tunbridge Wells bowler Ari Karvelas (2/60) struck early in the Gloucestershire reply before fifties from Miles Hammond, Ian Cockbain and Brandon Allen frustrated the Kent attack.

Sevenoaks Vine seamer Miles Richardson took 3/61 with the spin of Gray returning the same figures and Kashif Ali claiming his maiden second XI victim.

The visitors declared before 24 overs of batting practice including 50s for Robinson (off 22 balls) and Hussain (off 33) brought the declaration and chase.

The same quartet of bowlers struck with three more for Gray, two for Richardson and one each for Karvelas and Kashif Ali.

Kent squad: Came, Manenti, Mosun Hussain, Robinson (wk), Kashif Ali, Dilkes, MacVicar, Gidman (c), Richardson, Karvelas, Gray, Mills.
