Beaumont and Farrant looking ahead to England Academy tour

Kent duo Tammy Beaumont and Tash Farrant are looking forward to the England Academy tour to Dubai next week ahead of an exciting season for women's cricket.

The centrally-contracted pair will take on Australia's academy side, the Shooting Stars,at the ICC Academy with four 50-over matches being played on April 2, 4, 6 and 8, followed by two Twenty20s on April 11 and 12.

Dover-born batsman Beaumont, 24, will skipper the squad.and said: "I did it last year and really enjoyed it. It's a good challenge to captain against the Aussies and we've got a really good team that we can hopefully all pul together and put in some good performances."

Farrant, an 18-year-old left-arm bowler from Sevenoaks, said: "I can't wait to get outside, it's been a long winter so we're fully prepared to hit the ground running out there.

"I'm feeling fit now after a frustrating 12 months but at the end of the summer I did get a few games.

"I'm the baby of the England team but in the Academy, I can help the new girls out, help anyone that wants me and perform."

The Kent Cricket Academy graduates will be pressing their claims for a return to the senior side after missing out on the winter tour to New Zealand with the target of the Kia Women's Test on home soil in Canterbury on August 11-14.

"It's a real good opportunity to make my claim into the Ashes squad which is my main aim for the summer."

Australia take on Englandat The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrencein the only Women's Kia Test Match as part of the Ashes in an extended Canterbury Week this summer.

Entry to the Women’s Kia Test on August 11-14 and Kent v Australia men on June 25-28 is included in Kent All Rounder and Championship Plus Memberships and is an option for Six Pack package holders.
