Beaumont blasts 50 as England beat Australia

Kent captain Tammy Beaumont hit her third international T20 half-century as England beat Australia in their opening match of the T20 tri-series in Mumbai.

The 27-year-old, who also kept wicket, hit eight boundaries in an unbroken stand of 116* with Nat Sciver (68*) as England chased 150 to win with three overs to spare.

Kent vice-captain Alice Davidson-Richards was one of three players to make her international debut and took a catch at deep backward square-leg but was not required to bat or bowl in the eight-wicket win.

Surrey opener Bryony Smith (1) and Hampshire left-armer Katie George (0/22) made their bows with Notts all-rounder Jenny Gunn (3/22) the pick of the attack.

Next up, England face India on Sunday (5.30am BST), again at the Brabourne Stadium.

See the world champions in the Royal London Women’s ODI v South Africa at The Spitfire Ground on Friday 15 June.
