Beaumont & Marsh in England World Cup squad

Kent duo Tammy Beaumont and Laura Marsh will represent England on home soil at the Women’s World Cup this summer.

The 26-year-old Dover-born opener Beaumont is set to open the batting with 30-year-old Marsh from Pembury fighting for a spot in the middle-order with her off-spin.

Captain Heather Knight and wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor included subject to completing their return to full fitness.

The tournament takes place from 24 June to 23 July 2017 and will be the eleventh edition of the Women’s Cricket World Cup, and the third to be held in England (after the 1973 and 1993 tournaments).

England Coach Mark Robinson said: “We are hugely excited about the potential of this squad. There will be no better and greater stage than a home World Cup for our players to showcase what they are about and we are really excited about what this group of girls could potentially achieve.

“The return to the squad of Sarah Taylor shows how far she’s come and we are hopeful both her and Heather Knight will be able to play a full part in the tournament.”

Director of England Women’s Cricket Clare Connor said: “Hosting the ICC Women’s World Cup this summer is a wonderful opportunity for our sport and for this exciting England team. We all know the significance of this opportunity and we’re determined to maximise it, on and off the pitch.”

Kent Women are in action at The Spitfire Ground this Bank Holiday weekend against Lancashire and Yorkshire.

Adult tickets cost £5, entry is free for Kent Members, under 16s and Canterbury Christ Church University staff and students.
