Billings: Best Kent fielding I’ve seen

Returning Spitfires skipper Sam Billings praised the standard of Kent’s fielding as the side secured a third successive win in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

Kent restricted Somerset to 221 from 42 overs before sealing the win in a rain-reduced contest at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Billings said: “Fielding in all forms of cricket is a selfless task as it is purely for the team. You have 11 players out there chucking themselves around and without doubt this is the best fielding I have seen since I’ve been at Kent.

“The energy and intent is something we’ve talked about for years and I think you saw that throughout our cricket.

“Blakey has shown what a great asset he is in the field but what is pleasing for me is his body language and he’s come out of his shell. He’s started really being a capped player on the field and you see that authority now.”

Join us for the double-header at The County Ground, Beckenham against Surrey (Friday 1 June) and Gloucestershire (Sunday 3 June). All matches start at 11am unless stated with gates opening an hour before.
