Changes made to Kent squad to play Glamorgan in LV= County Championship fixture

Saturday 14th June 2014

Men’s First Team

Head Coach Jimmy Adams has made two changes to his LV= County Championship squad, as they pursue their second win of the season. Vice Captain Sam Northeast has been rested for the match, making way for Fabian Cowdrey to enter the 11. Calum Haggett has been named as 12th man in place of David Griffiths. ’We are looking to give Sam some time to work on his batting for red ball cricket so are giving him a bit of a break. Fabian has been performing for the seconds so he has chance to play,’ said Adams.

This will be the 14th encounter between the two Counties in Cardiff, dating from 1967, when it was known as Sophia Gardens. Kent have the upper hand with six victories to Glamorgan’s three, with four matches drawn. In the equivalent fixture last year the men from the South East won by 7 wickets, having dismissed Glamorgan for 158 in the first innings, Darren Stevens taking 4/34, and then 258 in the second, with Adam Riley recording figures of 3/69. The slight first innings lead of 17 (158 all out) was due in no small part to Daniel Bell-Drummond’s 78. The target of 241 was easily achieved with only three wickets lost and major contributions from Sam Northeast 88 and Brendan Nash 70*. For a full summary of all fixtures click here.
