Cricketers turn out to raise funds and awareness for CRY

Most of the Kent first-team squad turned out to raise funds and awareness for Cardiac Risk in the Young at Eltham College.

A special Kent Spitfires side featuring Kent and England opener Tammy Beaumont took on an Old Elthamians Invitation XI including former Kent captain Rob Key and Kent all-rounders Calum Haggett and Darren Stevens.

The OE Select XI won by six wickets as part of a T20 double-header with a Kent Cricket Academy XI defeating an OE Under 17 side by 69 runs inspired by opener Ollie Robinson's 108 not out.

A gala dinner with auctions and entertainment will follow in aid of the charity which aims to raise awareness of sudden cardiac death.

Current Kent players were affected by heart conditions: Calum Haggett underwent open heart surgery after a routine screening revealed a hidden condition and Ivan Thomas lost a close friend and team-mate who passed away in his sleep.
