Dickson & Denly break records in Beckenham runfest
Sean Dickson smashed a career-best double hundred in a record stand with Joe Denly as Kent amassed a record of 443-1 at The County Ground, Beckenham.
The hosts dispatched the Northamptonshire attack to all corners as they earned maximum batting bonus points with Dickson and Denly’s unbeaten 305-run partnership surpassing Kent’s previous best partnership for any wicket against the East Midlanders.
Dickson reached his second double-hundred and ended with 210* after six hours at the crease alongside Denly (143*) at stumps on day one.
Daniel Bell-Drummond (49) was the only wicket to fall on the first day when he feathered a Ben Sanderson ball to Northants ‘keeper Adam Rossington before Denly and Dickson made hay.
