Dickson: Wonderful to score a double hundred

Sean Dickson said the surface at Derby was trickier than his double hundred would suggest.

Dickson said: "It was not the easiest batting deck in the world, very two-paced and a few would bounce and a few would roll but credit to the Derbyshire bowlers, they really did stick to their lines and lengths.

"They put a lot of pressure on us but I thought I would keep my head down and keep going. I've scored a first-class hundred so I know what the feeling is but I'd never scored a Championship hundred so that was wonderful.

"When I was on 90 I was at the non-strikers end thinking I just wanted those 10 runs to fly. I got a four off my hip and in the next over got two more past backward point. I just had a game plan that anything straight I would defend and anything wide I would attack and it seemed to pay off.

"My previous highest score was 173 and when I came off that day there were lots of comments about not having many moments like that in my career so I kept thinking about that and just told myself don't chuck it away because when are you going to get the opportunity to put up 200.

"We were talking about the Leicestershire game against Worcestershire with them bowled out for 40 odd in their second innings so anything can happen and it's just a matter of staying positive tomorrow and taking the chances when they come."
