Fabian Cowdrey and Sam Northeast hit 50s in grade cricket

Kent's Sam Northeast and Fabian Cowdrey hit half-centuries in the latest round of grade cricket in Australia.

Skipper Northeast smashed seven boundaries and a six in an innings of 58 off 43 balls in the KFC T20 State Premier League.

His Sunshine Coast side collapsed to 127 all out but opponents Northern Suburbs fell four runs short in the chase.

Cowdrey scored 72 in the Sydney First Grade competition for Western Suburbs against North Sydney.

He scored six fours at the top of the order as his side were dismissed for 170 and conceded 174 for eight in reply.

Cowdrey’s ten overs cost just 22 runs as North Sydney won on first innings.

Elsewhere in New South Wales, Mitch Claydon took 1/52 in 18 overs for Newcastle City as they lost to University.

Claydon had hit 43 off 56 balls last Saturday in the Newcastle District First Grade match in a score of 228 which University passed thanks to an unbroken 189-run stand for the sixth wicket.
