Fenwick’s Fashion on the Outfield

Kent Cricket once again hosted a successful Ladies' Day during Canterbury Week, on a glorious summer's day; day two of Kent's LV= County Championship match against Essex.

The day included a performance from The Corps of Drums of the 1st Cinque Ports Rifle Volunteers, and Jazz band 'Saturday Sounds', a Ladies' Arcade and the Fenwick's Fashion on the Outfield competition.

The prestigious fashionevent this year had over 40 entrants, who paradedalong the red carpeton the outfield in theirelegant attire. There were three independent judges, given the difficult task of picking the best dressed women,with all entrants required to wear a hat as part of their outfit.

This year's judges were Doreen Wadlow (partner of Kent Cricket President Mike Denness), Catherine Gasker (Fenwick’s buyer) and Julie Prior (Fenwick’s Advertising and Marketing Manager).

Onceall theentrants had made their way down the walkway, the judges selected tenparticipants to move into the second round of the competition. The selection was then whittled down to the four winners.

First prize, a £500 Fenwick's voucher went to Sue Canney from Hastingleigh.Following her victory, she was able to travel around the St Lawrence Ground in style on a horse and carriage along with second prize winner, Athene Lakey from East Sussex,who received a £250 voucher for Fitzgerald Jewellers.

Third prize was awarded to Amy Medhurst from Canterbury, who received a £250 voucher for Whitefriars Canterbury and fourth prize, aSpa Day for two at AshfordInternational Hotelwent to Charlotte Ashton from Essex.

Followingthe event, judge Julie Prior commented; “The effort of someof the ladies,to co-ordinate what they wore with their accessories stood out. Therewere a variety of styles; with some being fashion forward and otherswhich were more classical, but they all looked fantastic.”
