Thursday 26th January 2017

Eleven-time winners Trinidad & Tobago Red Force will be one of the favourites for the Caribbean Super50, having lifted the trophy in the past two tournaments.

A star-studded side includes West Indies batsmen Darren Bravo, Jason Mohammed and Evin Lewis at the top of the order.

All-rounder Rayad Emrit will bat alongside wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin in the middle order.

With the ball, international pacemen Ravi Rampaul and Shannon Gabriel will be the main threats with Roshon Primus and Rayad Emrit’s medium-fast seamers as well as Imran Khan’s legbreaks other options for Ramdin’s side.

Red Force won their first match, chasing down 267 to beat Windward Islands Volcanoes with two overs to spare.

New ball bowlers Rampaul (4/43) and Gabriel (2/53) did the damage, reducing the Volcanoes to 18/3 before middle order resistance and late hitting plundered more than 100 runs in the last ten overs.

In reply, Lewis smashed 64 off 47 balls in an opening stand of 94 with Hope (36) before Mohammed (80) and Ramdin (33) added 92 for the fourth wicket.
