Gidman set for home debut in Canterbury Week One-Day Cup match

Will Gidman is in line for his home debut as Kent Spitfires name an unchanged squad for the final Royal London One-Day Cup home group game against Gloucestershire at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Sunday (31 July, 11am).

The all-rounder joined Kent on a month’s loan from Nottinghamshire and is set to make his fourth appearance in eight days against his former club as the 165th Canterbury Cricket Week gets under way.

The former Durham and Gloucestershire left-hander said: “I’m very excited. It’ll be the first time I’ve played them since leaving and I’ve got good relationships there and hopefully it’ll be a nice day.

“The squad has changed a bit since I was there and they are playing some really good cricket with a new coach doing things a different way.

“I’m a Notts player and I’m very fortunate to be allowed out to play at another great club like Kent and I want to enjoy it as it’s been a tough 18 months on the field and get back in the mix.”

The fixture will be the annual Battle of Britain Memorial fixture with a Spitfire Merlin engine on display at the ground and a display by the Memorial Trust. A bouncy castle is available all week.

Gates open at 9.30am throughout Canterbury Cricket Week with the other fixture against Worcestershire in the Specsavers County Championship on Wednesday (3 August), day one starting at 12pm, days two to four at 11am.
