Into The Ark to support Sir Tom Jones at Spitfire Ground concert

The Voice UK finalists Into the Ark will join Tom Jones as his guest when he plays The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence this summer.

Into the Ark came second in the 2017 edition of ITV’s popular talent show The Voice under the guidance of their coach Tom Jones and have garnered an incredible fan base following their impressive week-on-week performances on the show. The Welsh singing duo is made up of Taylor Jones and Dane Lloyd who describe themselves as ‘soulful acoustic music from Blackwood, South Wales.

They met as solo performers and bonded over their passion for gigging and their love for writing and each other’s taste in music. Dane was 14 & Taylor 18. This instant friendship enabled the boys to get on stage and perform together.

A very spur-of-the-moment thing but one they’ve not regretted. After some time backpacking around Australia – the boys headed home to record a four-track EP at a local studio and to start developing a fan base on YouTube.

This was followed by a stint in Tunisia performing in various holiday resorts and learning about music and song writing from people they met along the way. Whilst they were there, Sony contacted them showing an interest in their YouTube music, which prompted them to come home, and eventually find management.

Speaking about why they love music, Dane Lloyd said: “When we hear Otis Redding sing it transports us to another realm. You can feel the pain, the passion and the soul in it all. Music is the only thing that really gives us this feeling.

“Like a chef trying to describe why he loves to cook, there are so many different tastes and textures it becomes impossible to pin point why. All you know is you like the way it tastes and I think that’s all that matters.”

The duo’s performances on The Voice have catapulted them to fame and won the hearts of the nation, and they hold their coach Tom Jones in high revere, forging a friendship with the star.

Tom Jones’ distinctive voice and iconic records have earned him a place as one of the best loved artists ever to emerge from the 1960s, with an eclectic musical mix spanning pop, rock, soul, R&B, dance, country and gospel.

With more than 100 million record sales under his belt, including the instantly recognisable hits It’s Not Unusual, Kiss, Delilah and What’s New Pussycat, he is without doubt a living legend.

The outdoor concert at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Saturday 8 July will feature a collection of Tom’s most popular hits across the decades – including his latest albums – promising fans an unforgettable evening.

Into the Ark will be warming up the crowds ahead of Tom Jones’ performance.

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of promoter LHG Live, said: “We are thrilled to announce Into the Ark as guest for Tom Jones.

“The duo has completely bowled over the public with their performances on ‘The Voice’. They are a unique act with tremendous talent and we are looking forward to seeing them at The Spitfire Ground.”
