James Tredwell: It’s nice to be involved

James Tredwell is delighted with the England call-up for the West Indies tour and hopes his one-day record will stand him in good stead for the longer form of the game.
The Kentish spinner, who extended his Kent contract late last year, said: "I wasn't especially expecting the call up but I guess with Moeen getting injured and with me in the one-day setup there is always that chance that if I've done things in the right way and impressed enough I would be in the shake up, it's nice to know that's obviously the case.
"I've had issues in the past adjusting from the one-day format to the longer form but I feel as though I have learnt from that and now have a few weeks to work on a few things leading into the tour."
The 33-year-old played only once in England's short World Cup campaign but is confident England can bounce back ahead of a busy summer with series against New Zealand and Australia.
Tredwell said: "I certainly think there will be some scars from the World Cup but that isn't necessarily a bad thing if changes are made to heal them. Saying that, this tour shouldn't have any crossover really as the Test team are coming off pretty good success from the summer at home.
"In terms of the Ashes, I will take things as they come. I would be silly to look too far ahead. I've been given an opportunity on this tour and I must give myself a chance to get in the team and perform and see where that takes me."
Tredwell is expected to be back at Kent in time for the start of the NatWest T20 Blast opener versus Sussex at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Friday 15 May.
