Tuesday 23rd January 2018
Kent batsman Joe Denly took his first wicket in the Big Bash before top-scoring with 72 not out to help Sydney Sixers to a fourth successive win to end the Big Bash League season.
The 2017 Kent player of the year picked up the fourth T20 wicket of his 166-match career in a spell of 1/19 in three overs to restrict bottom side Melbourne Stars to 189 for five.
In reply, he shared a stand of 108 for the second wicket with Nick Maddinson (61) and reached his half-century off 32 balls.
He struck six fours and three sixes in a fine 45-ball innings at the Sydney Cricket Ground to maintain his 100% record as a Sixer.
The 31-year-old will now fly home to join the Kent squad before they go to the Caribbean on the FGS Plant Tour.
