Kent batsmen celebrate hat-trick of A grades

Budding batsmen Zak Crawley and Marcus O'Riordan achieved three A grades in their A Level results.

Kent Cricket Academy graduate Crawley passed three A Levels with flying colours in Maths, Politics and History at Tonbridge School.

The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract last summer and combined his studies with batting practice.

Crawley said: “It’s really hard to find the balance between schoolwork and cricket but my coaches and teachers gave me lots of support to get the grades.

“I’m looking to take some time out and hopefully play some cricket in Australia this winter.”

Academy scholar O’Riordan, 18, also achieved 3 A grades studying Maths, Chemistry and Physics at Tonbridge School and is taking a gap year in Australia.

O'Riordan said: "I managed to combine my studies with the Academy programme and I'm looking forward to going away to Melbourne to play cricket at Bonbeach this winter."
