Kent County Cricket Club is saddened to learn of the death of Douglas Percy Freeman, on 3rd April at the age of 96. The left-handed batsman represented Kent once in 1937. His uncle was the Kent legend ‘Tich’ Freeman.
He becomes the 4th longest-lived cricketer in Kent’s history. It also now means there are no Kent cricketers alive who played for the county before the last war. The oldest Kent cricketer now alive is Tom Pritchard (born 10.03.1917).
A funeral service will be held at Canford Crematorium on Monday 22nd April at 3.00pm. Donations if desired for Alzheimer's Research UK c/o R. Davies & Son, 381 Gloucester Road, Horfield, Bristol, BS7 8TN. Tel: 0117 942 4039. The thoughts of the Club are with his family and friends at this time.
