Kent name squad ahead of Oxford MCCU match at the Parks

Kent take a break from championship cricket in good health, sitting pretty at the top of division two, in the LV= CC standings, after their unbeaten start to the season.

Jimmy Adams has named a twelve man squad travelling to the heart of the country to take on Oxford MCCU in a three-day university fixture at the Parks.

Alex Blake, Adam Ball, Simon Cook and Daniel Bell-Drummondare set tomake their first appearances of the season, while first-year professional Fabian Cowdrey makes his Kent first-team debut. Sam Northeast will captain the side, with Dan Masters joining the squad on trial.

Kent retained theirunbeaten start to the season at Canterbury last week when they dominated the much-fancied Yorkshire for two days – before rain ruined any victory ambitions. Their 49 points, gathered from one win and three draws, have been boosted by 24 bonus points – the highest in the division.

Oxford MCCU have taken on county opposition twice already this year and are still searching for their first win.

The last time the two sides met was back in 2004 but heavy rain meant only two overs were bowled in the whole game with Kent finishing on 9-1 after Joe Denly was bowled for a second ball duck.
