Kent v Gloucestershire squad news for LV= Championship finale

Kent entertain Gloucestershire in the 16^th and final LV= Championship match of the season.

Honours are even between the counties in 2014 after Kent won the Royal London One-Day Cup quarter-final at Canterbury and Gloucestershire won the LV= Championship fixture at Bristol in May.

The sides won one game against each other in the NatWest Twenty20 Blast.

A Kent win would secure a fourth place finish, overtaking Surrey who currently occupy the spot on 183 points after 16 games.

Rain and a century from Hampshire’s Will Smith denied Kent victory on the final day at the Ageas Bowl last week but head coach Jimmy Adams was pleased with the performance.

Adams said: “Although we didn’t get the win at Hampshire, I was pleased with the consistency we showed with bat, ball and in the field.

“The rain on the final day took away the time we needed to take the 20 wickets but I thought we were the better side and I was encouraged by the performance.

“We want to finish the season on a winning note in front of our own supporters and go into the winter with optimism.

“The younger lads have made a lot of progress and the signs are good if they can keep developing and improving their game.”

Both sides have selected two specialist spinners.

Kent squad to face Gloucestershire: Sam Northeast (captain), Daniel Bell-Drummond, Fabian Cowdrey, Brendan Nash, Darren Stevens, Sam Billings (wkt), Calum Haggett, Adam Ball, David Griffiths, James Tredwell, Adam Riley, Mitch Claydon, Matt Hunn.

Injury news: Club captain Rob Key (groin) and Ben Harmison (knee) are sidelined.

Gloucestershire squad:Alex Gidman (captain), Chris Dent, William Tavare, Gareth Roderick (wkt), Hamish Marshall, Ian Cockbain, Benny Howell, Tom Smith, Jack Taylor, Craig Miles, Liam Norwell, David Payne.

The match starts at 10.30am Tuesday 23 September with gates opening at 9.30am.
