The Kent Spitfires suffered their first NatWest Pro40 defeat of the season, losing to Lancashire Lightning by 25 runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kent could only manage 162 in their innings. Skipper Justin Kemp led the way with 44 with James Tredwell, who opened the innings, hitting a patient 27. Steven Mullaney was the pick of the Lightning attack with figures of 3-36.

Lancashire were then 80-1 in the 18th over when rain forced an early end. The home side were ahead on D/L at Old Trafford and took the two points on offer. The win moved them to within a point of leaders Kent who finish the season with two home matches in this competition.
