Kent bowler Laura Marsh earned a recall to the England women's squad for their tour of New Zealand next month.

Sportsvibecaught up with Laura to discuss injuries, the tour and this summer's Ashes including a home Test in Canterbury.

The 28-year-old said: “I can't wait and I’m really delighted to have been selected after a year and half out recovering from an injury.

“It’s a real challenging time recovering from injury. I’ve been pretty lucky with injuries overall in my career, but this one has taken a lot of time to get over and it’s been frustrating at times to not be part of the squad.

"Hopefully all the hard work is going to pay off and I can go out there and perform well. We’ve had a lot of success playing against New Zealand in the past, so we’ll be looking to continue that form and also hopefully get some points for the ICC championship."

England play an eight-match series (five 50-over One-Day and three Twenty20 internationals) in New Zealand, starting on February 11 at Mount Maunganui.

Marsh will hope to cement her place in the squad ahead of an Ashes summer in England in prospect including the Kia Test at Canterbury on August 11-14.

The Pembury-born player said: “The Ashes is a fantastic competition, but I’ll just be looking at taking it one tour at a time and hopefully I get the chance to continue playing.”

Marsh will be joined on the tour by two Kent teammates: England captain Charlotte Edwards and batsman Lydia Greenway.

Laura Marsh, an official ambassador of Nutrition X for 2015, told Cricket World: "In recent times I've spent a lot of time in the gym, concentrating on rehab, and trying to get my body back to a good state," she explained.

"It's been a tough year and half, obviously dealing with my injury and also trying to get my body back into the physical condition it needs to be in to play international cricket.
"I'm really pleased I'm back involved, and can't wait to hopefully get the opportunity to play again."
