Magnificent seven for Adam Ball in Queensland

Adam Ball took seven wickets and top-scored with the bat for Redlands Tigers in the Queensland First Grade.

The 21-year-old left-armer took 7 for 35 in a devastating 12-over spell at Western Suburbs which included four maidens.

The visitors batted first after being put in by Western Suburbs and made 140 in tricky conditions with Ball scoring 36 off 66 balls.

Sandwich Town batsman Marcus Labuschagne scored 30 before Ball’s cameo at number eight pushed the Tigers into three figures.

In reply, Western Suburbs collapsed from 41-1 to 45 for eight as Ball bewildered the hosts’ lineup as they were all out for 67.

Ball scored 13 off 12 balls in the second innings as Tigers declared on 197 for nine before taking a wicket as Wests chased a notional 270 off 40 overs in vain as Redlands won on first innings.

Kent vice-captain Sam Northeast, 25,continued his fine form with 94 for Sunshine Coast Scorchers at South Brisbane as Ivan Thomas rested a side strain.

Northeast struck ten boundaries and a six in his 164-ball innings in three-and-a-half hours at the crease.

Scorchers won on first innings as they dismissed South Brisbane for 265 in reply to Sunshine Coast's 285.

Elsewhere in Queensland, 21-year-oldDaniel Bell-Drummond scored 43 for Northern Suburbs as they won on first innings, scoring 229 to University of Queensland's 202. Brendan Nash did not play.
