Marsh takes 4 wickets in World Cup win
Sunday 2nd July 2017
Kent spinner Laura Marsh returned to the England side and took four wickets in a comfortable seven-wicket victory against Sri Lanka at Taunton in their third Women’s World Cup fixture.
Marsh, who was Player of the Match, and the rest of England’s bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 204-8 before captain Heather Knight (82) and Sarah Taylor (74*) combined to put on 148 and help England towards their target.
The Kent Cricket Academy graduate said: “It’s always hard to miss out so it was great to get a chance today and get a few wickets.
“It’s always nice when the ball turns in one-day cricket and they had a few left-handers so it was good to have the ball turning away from the bat.”
England’s next fixture comes against South Africa at Bristol on Wednesday July 5, before taking on Australia at the same venue on Sunday July 9.
