Matt Hunn gains experience in commercial team

Paceman Matt Hunn is keeping busy in the off-season by working in the Kent Cricket commercial team.

The 23-year-old bowler will be combining his office duties with strength and conditioning work ahead of the club’s pre-season programme.

Hunn will work with commercial director Emma Santer and more than 50 business partners and sponsors as well as the Team Kent Business Club network in the build-up to the 2018 season.

As part of his personal development, he has spent a week with major sponsors Barretts and their Land Rover team.

Hunn said: “There’s so much more to the club than I realised. As a player, we are focussed on cricket but it’s been interesting to see all the work that goes on behind the scenes to support us on the pitch.

“It’s a year-round effort and it’s good to get some work experience to prepare me for life after cricket.”

Commercial director Emma Santer said: “It is very important for players to plan ahead with regards to their careers, as cricket can be cut short for a number of reasons, and work experience gives players the perfect opportunity to see which other careers may interest them.

“In conjunction with the Professional Cricketers Association, players can gain some valuable qualifications and work placements in order to prepare them for life after cricket.”
