End of Day One: Kent 87 & 46-3, Middlesex 153. Kent 3 points, Middlesex 3 points

Middlesex won the toss and elected to bat second. A total of 23 wickets fell on the opening day of the LV=CC match at Lord’s, with close of play coming at 8.10pm. A long day for both sides, having faced each other in a late night floodlit Friends Life t20 match in Canterbury the night before.

Kent had a slow start, and were on 22 for 6, Corey Collymore, Steven Finn and Tim Murtagh having taking two wickets each. Kent added 25 runs for the seventh wicket, followed by another 24 runs from Azhar Mahmood and Ashley Shaw for the final wicket, leaving Kent all out for 87.

Middlesex started well, reaching 50 without loss, the first wicket taken by Ashley Shaw, who bowled Scott Newman for 22. Middlesex were 81 for 3 by tea and the wickets continued to fall leaving Middlesex 124 for 9. Finn and Collymore added 29 for the last wicket, giving Middlesex a 66 run lead. Kent lost three wickets before the close of play, and will resume Day Two on 46 for 3 in their 2nd innings.
