Sam Billings: Men’s Player of the Year 2014

Sam Billings capped a memorable first full season with the gloves by picking up Player of the Year at the Spitfire Kent Cricket Awards on Saturday.

The 23-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman said: “It’s a huge honour to be voted player of the year by Kent Members and Supporters.

“To play for my home club is a massive buzz and I feel we have made a step forward this season and there’s more to come.

“We’ve got to build on our performances this year and be more consistent. There’s a lot of talent in the dressing room.

“To be named in the England Performance Programme has topped off the year nicely.”

Billings will join the 19-man squad at the National Cricket Performance Centre at Loughborough University before flying to Sri Lanka for a training camp.

The best of the EPP squad will then represent England Lions in South Africa in January 2015.

Previous winners: 2009 Geraint Jones, 2010 Darren Stevens, 2011 Azhar Mahmood, 2012 Mark Davies, 2013 Darren Stevens.
