Sam Billings today scored a century in only his second first class innings.

Sam Billings who joined the professional staff in 2011 was captaining Loughborough MCCU. Heregistered three figures versusNorthamptonshirebut only 63 overs were possible today, ruling out the realistic chance of a positive result.

Beginning the day on 33 in a total of 91 for three, the 19-year-old advanced to 131 soon before the game ended with his side on 267 for nine declared – a lead of 175.
