Sam Northeast to return to Sunshine Coast Scorchers

Kent captain Sam Northeast will return to Queensland for a spell with Sunshine Coast Scorchers this winter.

The 26-year-old batsman will fly out to Brisbane to play grade cricket at the club he captained last season.

Northeast is keen to return Down Under after his preparations helped him to achieve his best ever season with the bat: plundering more than 2,000 runs before being appointed captain for 2016.

The Kent Cricket Academy graduate said: "Every cricketer has bits and pieces to work on over the winter. Grade cricket out in Australia is brilliant for the guys as the standard is at a good enough level where you can go and test your skills.

"Players can really look at themselves and have time to prepare to become the player they want to become: hit balls over the ropes and get big scores consistently.

"I always really enjoy the winter months as you can see how good you can really be and come back and show people what you can do."
