Shepherd Neame Kent Cricket League, week 12 review

Adam Ball struck a century and took a wicket as Tenterden beat defending champions Hartley Country Club in the Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League.

The all-rounder hit 106, Jacobus du Plooy scored 89 and Linden Lockhart’s 52 helped the hosts to a total of 311-5 before rain reduced the target to 192 in 24 overs.

Hartley could only muster 120-8 in reply, 72 runs short of victory.

Second–placed Bexley won at Lordswood after dismissing the hosts for 173.

Jasdev Bassan and Angus Dalgleish took four wickets each with opener Zahmeer Khan (65) the only batsman to pass 50.

Bexley chased the revised target of 122 with seven wickets to spare with Matt Cross top-scoring with 48 not out.

Third-placed Sandwich Town continued their fine season with victory against Sevenoaks Vine at The Butts.

Second XI regular Kai Appleby scored 69 and Kent academy scholar Jordan Cox hit 40 in an opening stand of 80 with Zack Fagg (45).

Chasing 231 to win, Vine lost regular wickets as scoreboard pressure told.

Ashleigh Cox took 4/42 and Alex Smith’s 3/36 as the visitors fell 16 runs short despite 56* from Anthony Shales.

League leaders Beckenham could not complete their match at The Nevill Ground against Tunbridge Wells but still retain a two-point lead ahead of Bexley.

Holmesdale versus Blackheath also fell foul of the weather.
