Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League 2018, week 6

Blackheath lead the Shepherd Neame Kent Premier League after demolishing Lordswood by 89 runs at home.

Pakistan white-ball international Shahzaib Hassan (98) and former Essex all-rounder Tanweer Sikandar (145) shared a mammoth stand of 174 in a total of 327-5 for the hosts.

Sikandar followed his batting display with a superb showing with the ball, taking 4/45 including the wicket of Lordswood’s top-scorer Linden Lockhart (53).

Chris Willetts ran out his partner Jack Laraman before entering the attack to snare Australian batsman Brody Koelewyn for 48 and Kent associate scholar Taylor Chandler for a belligerent 48.

Tunbridge Wells leapfrogged Sandwich Town into second place in the table with a fine seven-wicket win at The Nevill Ground.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, several Town batsmen got starts before being dismissed for 191.

Former Kent Cricket Academy scholar Marcus O’Riordan claimed 6/42 and ex-MCC Young Cricketer Aristides Karvelas took 4/35.

In reply, former Sussex batsman Christian Davis (69*) and Chris Williams (41) gave Wells the perfect platform to chase the modest target with more than ten overs to spare.

Bexley beat Bickley Park as George Haley (111*) and Matthew Stiddard (51*) saw the hosts home chasing 222 to win.

Earlier Adeel Malik hit a swashbuckling 63 off 40 balls with Bexley’s Jason Benn (3/48) the pick of the bowlers.

Tenterden boosted their survival hopes with a hard-fought win at home to an understrength Beckenham.

Without Alex Blake or Ollie Robinson on county duty, the visitors fell nine runs short chasing 198 for victory.

Chris Vernon and Jamie Drewe hit half-centuries before Sam Jones (3/43), Tom Richards (3/38), Ranjit Singh (2/30) and Ali Neale (2/46) did the damage with the ball for the hosts.

It was a tale of two centuries as Bromley Common opener Toby Finzel hit 121 as his side posted 242 after winning the toss against Sevenoaks Vine.

Luke Schlemmer (3/42) and John Bowden (3/36) were the pick of the Vine attack but it was Schlemmer’s unbeaten hundred that proved prevcious in a tight run chase.

He shared a unbroken stand of 138 with former Kent Cricket Academy scholar Michael Barber (46) that guided Vine to victory with 14 balls to spare.
