Tammy Beaumont hits 148 in World Cup win

Kent captain Tammy Beaumont hit her third one-day international century in a World Cup record stand as England piled on the runs against South Africa at Bristol.

The Dover-born opener hit 22 fours and a six in an innings of 148 as she shared a second-wicket partnership of 275 with Sarah Taylor (147).

It was the highest ever stand in England women’s cricket and the second highest of all-time in a women’s ODI.

The team’s total of 373-5, the 9th highest ever in women’s ODIs and the 4th best by an England side.

In the South Africa reply, the 26-year-old took a catch at short third man to remove Proteas skipper Dane van Niekerk as England sealed a 68-run win.

England moved up to third in the group stage table with three wins from four matches behind unbeaten Australia and India.

Next up, England play Australia in Bristol on Sunday (9 July).
