Kent's Tammy Beaumont led England Women's Academy to an unbeaten half-century as Pakistan Women succumbed to a nine-wicket defeat in their Twenty20 tour game at Loughborough University.

The Kent batter made 50 not out to build a match-winning unbroken 101-run stand with Fran Wilson as the Academy eased to a comfortable victory with six balls remaining.

Somerset’s Wilson added 47 to assist in the host’s pursuit of a victory target of 101, following the early loss of Georgia Hennessy in the first over. Sonia Odedra, Grace Gibbs (Kent) and Cordelia Griffith had earlier all claimed two wickets apiece to restrict Pakistan to 100 for eight in their innings.

Opener Nahida Khan struck 20 with Nain Abidi and Bismah Maroof accumulating useful runs in the middle order before the England team hit back with wickets at regular intervals.

The England Women’s Academy will take on Pakistan Women in a 50-over game at Loughborough on Saturday.
