Tredwell earns England Increment Contract

The ECB today announced that Kent captain, off-spinner James Tredwell has been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13.

Tredwell qualifies for the award by virtue of having played two T20s against India in December last year, five ODIs against India last month and three T20s against New Zealand.

Surrey pace bowler Jade Dernbach has also been awarded an England increment contract for 2012-13. Dernbach has played one T20 for England during the ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka, two T20s against India, four ODIs also against India and three T20s against New Zealand in the current contract period to earn his increment contract.

Non-contracted players can earn an England increment contract via a points system. Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a T20 or ODI appearance, with an increment contract being awarded automatically once the player reaches 20 points during the 12-month contract period.

ECB National Selector Geoff Miller said: “Congratulations to both James and Jade. These contracts reflect the contributions both players have made in the limited overs formats for England over the course of the winter.”
