Tredwell named in England ODI and T20 squads

10 December 2013

England selectors today confirmed James Tredwell’s inclusion in a 16-man squad to face Australia in the five-match ODI series commencing Sunday 12th January in Melbourne and a 15-man squad for the three-match T20 series that follows.

Six members of the ODI squad, including Tredwell are not involved in the current Test series and they will begin their preparation for the first ODI on 5th January in Melbourne ahead of the remainder of the squad arriving on 8th January.

Of the six, Danny Briggs, Jos Buttler and Chris Jordan have been based in Brisbane and Perth on the England Performance Programme throughout November and December. Ravi Bopara, Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan will all be playing in the domestic T20 competition in Australia in the build up to the series.

England captain Alastair Cook, Gary Ballance, Ian Bell, Danny Briggs, Tim Bresnan and  Stuart Broad return to the squad having not taken part in the most recent ODI series between the two teams in September.

Geoff Miller said: “We have an important period of limited overs cricket coming up with an ICC World T20 in Bangladesh in March and we are just over a year away from the ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. These two series against Australia allow valuable opportunities for players to push for places in both squads and given the rivalry between the sides both series will no doubt be keenly contested.”
