Tredwell spins Kent to big victory over Northants

Thursday 13th August 2009

IN-FORMoff-spinner James Tredwell continued his excellent recent form with a further five wickets on the final day to finish with match figures of 10-100 and lead Kent to a 238-run victory over Northants at Wantage Road.

Needing to bat out the day to avoid defeat, the home side were shot out for just 90, with only former Kent wicketkeeper Niall O’Brien (41) and Rob White making double figures.

Tredwell took 5-32, with Simon Cook and left-arm-spinner Rob Ferley both taking two wickets each.

Earlier, Kent declared on 302-5, with Martin van Jaarsveld 100 not out, against his former county, to set the hosts 329 to win. They were never in the hunt as Kent recorded the 238-run victory.

Tredwell has now taken 57 in the LV County Championship this season and is the leading wicket-taker in Division Two.
