Kent spin bowler James Tredwell (pictured)gave the England selectors a timely nudge with three wickets in the Lions’ comfortable Twenty20 win against United Arab Emirates A in Sharjah.

Tredwell returned figures of 3-22 as the Lions opened the tour with a 52-run victory.

Batting first, England scored 184 for five from their 20 overs, with Michael Lumb (42) and Ian Bell (37no) the chief run scorers.

UAE A were never really in the hunt and could only muster 132 for seven as the Lions got off to a winning start
