Unbeaten Kuhn 50 sees Kent home at Cardiff

Heino Kuhn passed 10,000 first class career runs with a fluent half-century as Kent chased 195 to seal a second successive win in the Specsavers County Championship.

The South African batsman (69*) helped Kent to a 19-point victory against Glamorgan at a sunny Sophia Gardens.

New Zealand paceman Matt Henry completed his second four-wicket haul of the match to extend his lead at the top of the Championship wicket-taking table.

Early lunch was taken at 12noon after the groundstaff discovered that an overnight leak in the underground drainage system had created a damp patch on the square.

With good drying conditions, plenty of time left in the game and hard work by the stadium’s groundstaff, the small patch dried out, allowing play to commence at 12.40pm with eight overs of play being lost.

In the second over of the day, Glamorgan skipper Michael Hogan fenced a good-length ball to Sean Dickson at slip to set up a chase of 195 in five sessions.

Daniel Bell-Drummond (36) and Sean Dickson (39) gave Kent the perfect platform before Kuhn and Denly (26) accelerated either side of tea.

Denly departed after a spectacular catch in the deep by sub fielder Tom Cullen at deep mid-wicket and Crawley’s cameo of 11 was ended by Timm van der Gugten, who trapped him LBW before Darren Stevens hit the winning runs.
