Weather rules at Tunbridge Wells

The weather continued to dominate Kent's LV= County Championship match against Hampshire at Tunbridge Wells.

After a rain-ruined opening day restricted the action to just 15.1 overs, only 18.3 overs were sent down on Thursday before play was again abandoned with the visitors on 90 for three in their first innings.

After a prompt start Hampshire – resuming on their overnight total of 50 for three – went on to grind out a further 40 runs through fourth-wicket partners Simon Katich (43 not out) and Liam Dawson (22no).

The pair extended their partnership to an unbroken 53 runs before the rain came down shortly before the scheduled lunch break.

With heavy cloud cover and high humidity, the conditions appeared ideal for seam and swing bowling – but the Kent attack rarely beat the bat.

The hosts left the field when the rain arrived, clearly frustrated by the weather and the obdurate performances of Katich and Dawson.

Unfortunately, due to the weatherin Tunbridge Wells today, the Ladies' Day, Fashion on the Outfield competition had to be postponed. We hope we will now be able to hold it on at lunch on Friday 8th June.
