A youthful Kent side lost to Somerset at The Spitfire Ground to finish third in the Royal London Women’s One-Day County Championship.
The seven-time champions lost by seven wickets at Canterbury with Megan Belt (2/29) and Tash Farrant (1/33) were the only bowlers to strike as the visitors patiently chased 127 to win.
Earlier, Farrant top-scored with 29 as the hosts were dismissed in 45.4 overs with Megan Hodgkinson taking three wickets and two for Lauren Bowen-Jones.
With four teenagers and all but two of the side aged under 25, the side struggled without captain Tammy Beaumont and spinner Laura Marsh rested ahead of England’s upcoming ODI series.
Hampshire lifted the Division One title with victory at Middlesex and Yorkshire ended the season as runners-up for a second successive season.
Middlesex joined Somerset in Division 2 next season with defeat at champions Hampshire. Sussex and Surrey earned promotion to Division One of the 50-over competition next season.
The Women’s county T20 tournament starts next Sunday with Kent travelling to Welbeck to play Nottinghamshire and Lancashire in a double-header (10.30am & 1.30pm).
