Fabian is the latest Cowdrey looking to continue the family’s rich cricketing traditions. Son of Chris, and Grandson of the late Lord Colin, young Fabian is a promising batsman and showed his true potential during the 2013 season.
Predominantly a top-order batsman, the Academy graduate impressed in the Kent second XI and enjoyed a successful time playing Club cricket for Sevenoaks Vine before breaking into the Spitfires one-day side. Joining Daniel Bell-Drummond in an exciting FL T20 opening partnership, Fabian scored 152 runs in five innings at an average of 38, including a maiden half-century against Surrey at the Oval. The former Tonbridge School student then broke into the Spitfires YB40 side and, on his List A debut, he blasted 52 off just thirty balls to underline his natural talent.
His left-arm spin bowling also proves useful, especially in the shorter forms of the game, and Fabian has shown four-day potential by playing an integral part in the side that won the second XI championship in 2012. This summer, the young batsman will be looking to cement his place in the Spitfires limited-over sides and force his way into the Championship side after signing a new contract in the winter.
