Biography

Player Shirt Supporter: Neil Carter

The tall quick bowler joined Kent in 2013 and made his debut in the Club’s LV= County Championship win over Lancashire.

After a stint with Essex, Matt joined Kent’s second XI and made an immediate impact - claiming 19 wickets in seven games under the watch of Simon Willis.

He was soon awarded a contract for the 2014 campaign, and was given a chance to shine in the first-team just two days later. Matt didn’t disappoint when entrusted with the new ball, returning 2-51 from 17 overs on his first-class debut.

His second wicket was a highly memorable one, South African batsman Ashwell Prince.

2015 was a breakthrough year for Matt as he announced himself on the big stage when taking a five-wicket haul against the touring Australians on the eve of the Ashes.

The performance propelled into regular first team action in all formats, impressing with both red and white ball.
