After a successful loan spell in 2013, Mitch joined the county permanently in the winter and will be looking to become the spearhead of Kent’s attack in 2014. The Australian-born seamer made the most of his British passport to sign for Yorkshire in 2005, but after just two first-class appearances he joined Durham where he shone amongst a large pool of pace bowlers. Despite being a regular wicket-taker, he was allowed to join Kent on loan and excelled. Against the touring New Zealanders, Mitch took 5-31 in a T20 tour match and he went on to become the Spitfires leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game, claiming 13 scalps - with best figures of 3-22 against the Sussex Sharks.
He returned to help Durham secure the county title at the end of last season, but not before Kent had secured his permanent signature. Mitch will now look to add to his tally of 130 first-class wickets; a haul that has come at an impressive average of 31.91. The left-hander can also add useful lower-order runs and with an average of over 15, he looks set to be an important acquisition.
