About the ACP

  • Overview

Since its inception, the Area Cricket Programme has grown in stature and been established as the foundation of the Talent Pathway in Kent, helping to develop young cricketers and prepare them to move up the pathway into the County Age Group, Academy and Senior County Squads.

The ACP is vital in providing a higher standard of competition than school and junior club cricket, to challenge and enable development of talented players, helping to prepare them to compete for places in the County Age Group Squads.

The ACP is a competitive environment where players are allowed to develop in competitive matches that challenge them to reach their potential and teach them to win and lose respectfully. The competition is played as festivals and finals days between Area Squads pitting them against the best from other Areas of Kent.

  • Getting involved in Area Cricket

Each Area runs a series of training sessions during the autumn, that are available to School and Club cricketers who would like to progress to the next level. From these sessions, Area coaches will select their squads for the following summer, who will receive bespoke training sessions during the spring and summer and take part in festivals playing against the other Areas.

Your Club or School Coaches may recommend that you seek to progress your cricket further, or if you believe you/your son/daughter have the potential to train and compete at the next level you can sign them up for the sessions in your Area.

Players do not have to be put forward or ‘nominated’, however Area Leads welcome recommendations from Schools and Clubs if they have talented young players.

We meet regularly with all the Area managers who have stated that they would welcome new contact from clubs and school teachers in their Area.
Whether you have noticed a 9-year-old with a ‘natural eye’ for the ball in a PE lesson or have an accomplished year 9 player then please get in touch with your area manager.

Please scroll down for the contact details of your local Area Contacts.
